Spring Breakin'

We have been so busy having a ton of fun over spring break.  I just gotta say that I really enjoyed my break from putting Sadie on the bus at 7am.  Most days no one brushed their hair and we wore the same clothes for days on end.  I think that even though we stayed busy, the kids feel refreshed and ready to finish out the school year.  I am actually looking forward to having them all home for the summer (someone remind me of that after the first week of summer vacation when they are telling me that they are bored every two seconds).  Here's a little photo recap of our week:

We had a visit from a superhero:

We spent hours and hours outside soaking up the sunshine, playing with our awesome neighbors and enjoying the freedom that comes from being able to get out of the house.

Noah had his first ever soccer practice this week:

He had the peanut gallery there cheering him on:

We babysat for a friend one day this week.  Her darling son has autism.  I've just got to give a shout out to his mom M- and all the other parents raising children with autism.  The courage and patience this takes coupled with the fight most of them go through to get services for their children makes them worthy of a medal.  This boy was so sweet!  We splurged and bought the movie Tangled (which is fantastic!) and I think this was the only time all four of the kids sat still all day.

My dear friend Ellen and her sweet husband Brian came down from Indianapolis to help us put on a fundraiser photo shoot to help get two sisters home from Congo to an amazing family.  I can't wait to see our new family photos that she took.  Ellen let me take this goofy picture of her when I was explaining how much I love the shake it photo app on my phone.  Isn't she cute?!  Love that girl and her big heart for orphans.

I also got to hang with my bestie, Jessica, and her neice while we took the kids to the pool.  We don't always get to spend a lot of time together, but when we do it's like no time has ever passed.  Sometimes it's just so comforting to have a friend around who's known you for a long time and who knows all your junk and loves you anyway!  My kids got brave and made friends with the diving board on this trip to the pool.

We celebrated the first nice Friday night weather of the season by eating outside at our favorite Mexican restaurant.  It's one of our most cherished summer traditions.  Miles ate a burrito the size of a small hippo and loved every bite of it.

I think I'm going to need a break to recover from our break!  Sadly there is no rest for the weary this week.  We have lots and lots of evaluations for Miles to get into the headstart program next year as well as another round of bloodwork- partly routine (last HIV, Hep, etc.) and some extra tests to see if we can determine if there is a reason he's not growing and gaining weight like he should.  He's an assumed 3 to 3 1/2 years old and is a teeny tiny 22 pounds.  Keep your fingers crossed that we can get him into preschool so he can continue to get the services that he needs and that we get some answers about this child's hummingbird like metabolism!  Thanks!
