Happy 5th Birthday, Miles!

Dear sweet, crazy, little Miles,

You are five giant years old today.  You've been waiting to be five since the day you turned four.  I think that you thought the whole world would change when you turned five!

You've had such a fun year.  You loved, loved, loved your preschool.  Ms. Brittany was your teacher and you had a blast playing with your friends.  Every now and then you had too much fun and a note would come home, but for the most part, you did awesome at school!  You had tons of friends and we always heard that you were the life of the party at school.  We have been floored at how much you've learned this year!  You are such a smart, little guy.  (And by little, I do still mean little.  I weighed you this morning and you were a whopping 29 pounds)

That doesn't surprise me at all- you are the life of the party here at home, as well.  You have just the most fun loving attitude and a very sophisticated sense of humor.  Sometimes I wonder if you are really 10 or something.  You could run your cars around on the floor for hours all by yourself, but you'd rather be in a room full of people entertaining them.  You still have a face that seems to be made out of rubber and you will contort and fling yourself about until you have a whole room full of people giggling.

You still have that same magnetic personality that just draws people to you.  People just want to be where you are because you are just such a neat little man.  As the year has gone on, you've also developed so much kindness.  While you probably wish that the whole world revolved around you, you are figuring out that it doesn't and are learning how to empathize with others and share the spotlight when you need to.

You love snuggling with your daddy.  If both of us have an open lap- you'd still choose daddy's lap every time.  Almost every night, you crawl into bed with Sadie and I think both of you feel happy kicking and crowding each other.  You sleep with your eyes WIDE open.

I have just loved this past year with you!  You are becoming such a wonderful young man and you bring so much JOY into our home.  You just go with the flow and adapt and keep on smiling ALL THE TIME- and oh my goodness, what a smile!  You light up the whole room.

I'm so thankful that you are my precious son.  This family would be so empty without you!
I hope that 5 is your best year yet!

***Every year, I give my kids a little interview on their birthdays. I hope that it will be a great way for me to look back and see glimpses of who they were at every stage of life and see how they change over the years.  (For previous years, click on 2012, 2011)
